QR codes on invoices
Invoices include a verification QR code so the key invoice details can be checked more easily.
Plain-English guide for Spain’s 2027 invoicing rulesSpain is changing the way invoices are created, protected and checked. This visual guide explains QR invoices, hash chains, correction records, deadlines and what BillBee does to make it manageable for autónomos and SL owners.

VERI*FACTU is about making invoice records secure, traceable and difficult to secretly change after they are issued.
Invoices include a verification QR code so the key invoice details can be checked more easily.
Issued invoices should not be overwritten like a Word document or editable PDF.
Records are linked in sequence, making gaps or later manipulation much easier to detect.
Your invoices, expenses and receipts need to be organised before quarter-end panic.
Imagine a café takes €900 in sales on Monday. Under weak software, dishonest records could be reduced later. With secure invoice records, each sale creates a digital trail. If a record disappears or changes, the sequence no longer looks right.
This is the core idea: not more paperwork for the sake of it, but cleaner, harder-to-manipulate business records.
Most businesses issuing invoices in Spain should check their software now, especially if they use Excel, Word, copied PDFs or software not designed for Spain.
Freelancers, trades, consultants and service providers need simple invoice records that are correct from the start.
Companies need stronger controls, invoice series, user clarity and gestor-ready exports.
Parts, labour, deposits, receipts and expenses need to land in one clean flow.
BillBee explains IVA, IRPF, corrections and Spanish invoice rules in plain English.
Do not leave this until the final month. Moving from manual invoices to compliant software takes longer than most owners expect.
Companies subject to Corporate Tax, including many SL companies, should be ready by this date.
Most affected non-company taxpayers, including many autónomos, have this later date.
Not sure which date applies to you? Run the free BillBee readiness check and use the result as a starting point for a gestor conversation.

Issued · locked · QR included
The QR code is the visible part, but the real change is behind the scenes: the software must create and preserve proper invoice records. Adding a QR code to a random PDF is not enough.
There is an important difference between sending records automatically to AEAT and securely storing compliant records ready for request or future connection.
Invoice records are sent to AEAT automatically or very close to the time the invoice is issued. This gives a direct reporting flow.
The system still needs integrity, conservation, accessibility, legibility, traceability and inalterability, even where records are not sent immediately.
BillBee should describe this carefully as “Veri*Factu-ready”, “SIF-prepared” or “built around Spain’s invoicing software requirements” until any formal legal/certification wording has been reviewed.
Under the new mindset, issued invoices should not simply be deleted or overwritten. If something is wrong, you create a proper correction record so the history stays clean.
Think of each invoice as a link in a chain. If one link is secretly changed, the chain no longer matches properly.
You do not need to panic, but you do need to stop treating invoicing as a loose folder of PDFs and spreadsheets.
BillBee is not generic invoicing software with Spanish words added later. It is designed around Spain’s invoicing reality: IVA, IRPF, QR-ready invoices, corrections, expenses, BeeDrop receipt capture and cleaner gestor handover.
BillBeereadyNo. VERI*FACTU/SIF is about how invoicing software creates and protects records. Electronic invoicing is about how invoices are exchanged, especially between businesses.
No. The QR code is only the visible part. The software behind the invoice also needs to create secure, traceable records.
Yes, but corrections should be done properly. The safe mindset is: do not delete history; create a proper correction record.
Yes. Your gestor should help confirm how your business should handle invoice series, corrections, exports and tax reporting.
